Three Hearts Presents is committed to supporting organizations dedicated to helping children reach more birthdays. For each copy of The Night Before My Birthday Book sold on this web site, or by mail, we will donate $1.00 to charitable organizations that support children’s health, safety, and well-being through research and responsive services. The first organization that we are so happy to support is The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation. The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to funding medical research projects to find a treatment for Niemann- Pick Type C (NP-C) disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The Foundation was founded in 1994 by the Parseghian family shortly after they learned that three of the four children of Mike and Cindy Parseghian were diagnosed with NP-C disease. Their son, Michael, lost his fight with NP-C in 1997 at age 9. Their youngest, Christa, passed away in October of 2001 at the age of 10. Then Marcia died in 2005, at the age of 16. These children touched all who knew them in unforgettable ways. It is hard to put into words how it feels to know this amazing family. Their profound love for their children and their ability to transform deep grief into hope is inspirational. I am truly in awe of Cindy and Mike. They have lived through every parent’s nightmare three times, and still they work to make the dream of a treatment come true. October 12, 2012 This was something I had been waiting to do for a long time. It was a joy to give the first Supporting Dreams check to the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation from the sales of “The Night Before My Birthday Book”. Niemann-Pick Type C disease is a genetic, neurodegenerative disorder which causes progressive deterioration of the nervous system that usually affects children. This metabolic disorder leads to a series of neurological problems that are ultimately fatal...until a treatment is found. “The Night Before My Birthday Book” is committed to supporting organizations that help children reach more birthdays. It was very meaningful to me to give Cindy Parseghian, a friend and amazing woman and mother a copy of the book and a donation to help find the cure for a disease that took 3 of her 4 children.
